Setting up Your Email Software

After installing eMail VOICELink, you may need to modify the settings of your email software. Find the section below for your email software and use the applicable instructions.

Working with Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express

eMail VOICELink should automatically configure itself to work with Outlook and Outlook Express.

To view incoming eMail VOICELink messages:

  1. Open the message in Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express.
  2. Double-click the attachment to display the eMail VOICELink Whiteboard portion of the message.

Working with Netscape Mail

eMail VOICELink should automatically configure itself to work with Netscape Mail. If the automatic configuration doesn't work, use the procedure below.

To configure Netscape to work with eMail VOICELink:

  1. Open the Options menu in Netscape Mail and select General Preferences .
  2. On the Helper tab, click the New Type button.
  3. Enter application in the Mime Type field.
  4. Enter x-softlink in the Mime SubType field and click OK .
  5. Enter smg in the File Extension field.
  6. Click the checkbox for Launch the Application .
  7. Click the Browse button and locate the eMail VOICELink program file.

    The directory path entered here must match the path you selected during installation. The example shown above is the default path.

  8. Click OK .
  9. Restart Netscape Mail to activate the changes.

To view incoming eMail VOICELink messages with Netscape Mail:

  1. Click the eMail VOICELink message.
  2. Click the attachment link to view the message.

Working with Netscape Communicator

No additional configuration of Netscape Communication is required to work with eMail VOICELink. However, make sure that you select the SMTP option from the Mail tab on the Options dialog box. See How do I find the name of my SMTP server? for assistance in finding the SMTP server name.

To view incoming eMail VOICELink messages:

  1. Open the message in Communicator.
  2. Double-click the attachment to display the eMail VOICELink whiteboard portion of the message.

Working with Eudora

eMail VOICELink should automatically configure itself to work with Eudora.

To view incoming eMail VOICELink messages with Eudora:

  1. Double-click to open the eMail VOICELink message.
  2. Double-click the message attachment.

Working with Other Email Software

If you use email software other than those listed in the topics above, select "User SMTP Mail Server" from Preferences (under the Edit menu).

To view incoming eMail VOICELink messages:

If your email software can view attachments, use the following steps to see eMail VOICELink messages:

  1. Locate the eMail VOICELink message.
  2. Click or select the attachment link and use the view feature of your email software.

    If your email software cannot view attachments, use the following steps:

  3. Save the eMail VOICELink message attachment as a file.
  4. Find and open the saved file.
